Tom Lessard, a 30-year-old depressed watch salesman from Newark, NJ, is disappointed to learn that not only must he attend a three-day watch sales convention in Charlotte, NC, but he must do so with his rambunctious co-worker, Ralph. Miserable at the convention, Tom's luck turns around when he meets April, a bartender at the hotel lobby bar. She convinces him to leave the convention and they find themselves exploring Charlotte. The two spend the day in and out of museums, parks, and pubs. Aided by April's free spirit, Tom is able to take a closer look at himself and the choices he's made to get him where he is. His passions, fears, and outlook are all exposed by April. The question is, will he do anything about it?
