The main character, Wojtek, is a country boy who, against all odds, decided to become a doctor and, despite enormous difficulties, realized this goal. After graduating from the Medical Academy, he took a job in one of the hospitals in Lodz. Returning to the places of his childhood and early youth, Wojtek realizes what he has lost. But it is only when the hero's father dies that a breakthrough in his life takes place.
