After the sudden death of his wife, heart surgeon Dr. Steffen Hennings becomes increasingly withdrawn. He works a lot, but he doesn't sleep. A horrific murder is about to change his fate once again in a tragic way. All clues point to him. Why does he sit in the garden of his attractive colleague Dr. Lumis at night and watch her? Is he perhaps the brutal murderer of women that the police believe him to be? If not, why does he take the eccentric police psychologist Rosenblum hostage in the middle of the interrogation and flee?
