Plan B: True(en)

In 1991 a skateboard company was created with the most revered team roster in the history of skateboarding, it was named Plan B. A year later the first video "Questionable" debuted and it caused a shockwave through skateboarding still felt to this day. The 2nd Plan B video "Virtual Reality" came out a year later with the same legendary dominance. The visionary and owner of Plan B, Mike Ternasky died in an auto accident in 1994 and left his legacy with two of the founders of Plan B, legendary skateboarders Danny Way and Colin McKay. Plan B skateboards is proud to introduce our 5th full length video, "TRUE" featuring Ryan Sheckler, Chris Joslin, Felipe Gustavo, Scott Decenzo, Trevor McClung, Pat Duffy, Torey Pudwill, and others. In the tradition of Plan B videos, TRUE stands as one of the most anticipated videos of all time. The team carries the torch from the spark which Mike Ternasky created from day one.

Ski-Flying(en)

Hans Thirring, a theoretical physicist at the University of Vienna, is skiing down a mountain slope wearing cape-like attire. The cape, designed by Thirring and called the Thirring mantel, is made of parachute silk and acts somewhat like a parachute to provide its wearer reduced speed while shushing down the slopes. But it also provides lift so that the skier is lighter on his skis, almost weightless. This "flight" somewhat mimics the experience felt by those participating in the relatively new sport of ski-flying (also known as ski jumping), which must have exacting conditions (i.e. little wind, hard packed snow) to ensure safety. Even in ideal conditions, ski-flying is a dangerous sport, especially if the landing is not executed properly.

From each corner of the earth, five climbers – Sam Elias, James Pearson, Caroline Ciavaldini, Jacopo Larcher and Yuji Hirayama – attempt to open a new multi-pitch route on the basalt island of Reunion. Lost in the South Indian Ocean, Reunion is the childhood home of Caroline and, after traveling the world for several years as a professional climber, returning was something she had to do. By working together as climbers and friends, the team is able to open, ground-up, one of the hardest multi-pitch rock climbs in the world.

At the start of the 80’s sport climbing was in its embryonic stages. Bolted routes were beginning to make a regular appearance, indoor climbing walls as we know them nowadays had not yet been invented and there was no such thing as being a pro athlete. During that period standards rose exponentially, from 7b+ as the cutting edge to 9a becoming the new world standard at the end of the ’80’s. In such a short period the sport changed beyond recognition and, in Britain, was fuelled by a small group of climbers who would do anything to climb full-time: sleeping in sheds underneath crags, shoplifting for food and clothes, and living off unemployment benefits. As illustrated in this film directed by Nick Brown, these climbers were living outside the rest of society and went on to become the most influential figures in the history of British sport climbing.
