David Robitaille is a Canadian film director & actor from the city of Montreal Qc. Growing up playing Legos in the corner of his bedroom and doing a lot of theater improv work, he started creating unique stories & characters at a very young age. Robitaille was signed by his first agent in Montreal at the age of eighteen years old and was soon introduced to Hollywood film sets. Being involved in Sony's Karate Kid: Legends (2025) rewarded him with a valued industry mentor: Richard Graves (1st AD), who had previously worked on films like The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) , The Life of Chuck (2024) , etc.
He produced, directed and acted in the French 30 minutes short Trajectoire (2025) , then immediately pivoted to English shorts; Unmatched (2025) as a Sony Future Filmmaker Awards Contender & Tinseltown High (2026) as a directorial proof-of-scale, after his 2025 trip to Los Angeles, where he spent most of his days between Culver City and Beverly Hills. David now mainly develops & directs feature films for the Hollywood market, slowly shaping his own reputation as a trusted film director in North America. He sees Hollywood as a viable path for a sustainable directing career and aims to contribute to the revival of California's film industry, while leveraging his partnerships with studios in Montreal to bring post-production back home, thus creating a cost-efficient production strategy.
A voting member at the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television, he often finds himself to be the youngest person in the room, surrounded by influential middle-aged directors, producers & executives. He is often described as being five to ten years older than his actual age in terms of maturity as a director, which does not appear to have any impact on his ability to sometimes act like a child on screen. He understands the industry and masters multiple aspects of a typical producer's role. Robitaille is a staunch advocate for industry standards, as he prioritizes union-backed productions with studio-grade logistics to ensure the highest level of professional welfare for his cast and crew.
David Robitaille has very high creative ambitions & standards. He sees authenticity, compassion, honesty and respect as core values in his work environment and takes inspiration from his faith in the Lord to create authentic stories, rooted in God's love, joy and peace. Always planning ahead of time, Robitaille has already set clear life goals for himself; to develop & direct feature films for a living, while retaining a healthy lifestyle and building a family. He wants to live and work for God's glory and is not chasing fame or money, despite being a strategic and hard working entrepreneur.
